WHAT ONE LEADER SAYS ABOUT
DEAR HEART
"Used it the other night for a Grand Bail and had requests for it
at least six times and nothing doing but they would stand ' i~
the m;ddle 01 the floor apd yell 'DEAR HEART,' so 1 can
truthfully say that it is one of the best hits out this season,
and I'm sure it will last, too"

A DOZEN NEW HARRIS BALLADS
Charles K. Harris Announces That He Will
Shortly Issue Twelve Ballads-Plans to In
augurate Big Publicity Campaign to Feature
the Same-Ballads in Great Demand
C ha rles K. Harris, who each yea r is in the
habit of issuing several ballads from his pen,
Chas. K. Harris
surprised the publishing world last season by
failing to publish even one number of which
h(, was the an thor. H e ass igned no reason for
it, but at the same time he took two young
song writers und e r hi s wing, published their
l1l'mbers and ga ve much publicity t o their works.
Thes e t\\'o boys , Engen e \1\7 est and Joe Gold,
due to hi s efforts, were ena bled at the end of
the season to name five or six successful songs
of which they were the authors. Among these
were "Everybody Shimmies Now," " Mother
Love" and "Why Did I Waste My Time on
' You ?"
It is now understood, however, that with the
ope ning of the fall season Charles K. Harris will
announce tw elve new ballads of which he is the
author.
These are all to be issued s imulta
neously and a big campaign will be put into
fo r ce immediately to give them unu sual pub
licity.
In a recent talk with The R evie w Mr.
Har ris stated th a t no doubt the de mands for
b;.dlads during the corning season would be
g r eater than a t any time in the history of th e
music industry. and that he, in making th e de
cision to issue thi,s large number of works at
one tim e, did so after studying the s ituation
carefully and reali zing that the mov e undoubt
edly would be a most success ful one .
Charies K . Harris has been w riting songs so
long that mo s t people have forgotten how man y
years he ha s been at it, and they can by no
mean s nam e a third of the numbers that hav e
been issu ed from his pen , but all of tbem kn ow,
without questi on, sl1ch successful songs as "A fter
th e Ba ll ," "Always in the Way," "B.reak the
News to Mother" and other songs o f his that
have becom e stan dard s.
