BUSHING
CONDUCTED BY B. B. WILSON
ANOTHER TRADE ORGANIZATION
New Society Made Up of Those Dissatisfied
With the Work of the American Society of
Authors, Composers and Publishers
There has just been organized in New York a
new society termed "The United Writers and
Music Publishers of America." The organiza-
tion in its formal announcement says: "This
society has grown out of dissatisfaction with the
methods and manner of the conduct of another
one heretofore organized for the purpose of
collecting royalties from theatres and cabarets
throughout the country for the privilege of
playing copyrighted music. This idea has been
taken from the French, who have long had such
a society, and it was organized as soon as the
United States Supreme Court had determined
the legality of such a tax. However, the unit
system adopted by the society wherein some
of the production writers obtain a larger num-
ber of units has caused much dissatisfaction.
The new society makes a special appeal to
smaller publishers throughout the country, as
they will obtain New York representation as
far as having their music played. Also a manu-
script brokerage department will be maintained
for writers who are members. Some prominent
publishers and writers have already joined and
any one interested may communicate with the
society at 1476 Broadway, Suite 1017, New York
City."
RETURN TO OLD PRICE POLICY
In a letter to the trade, dated November 9, G.
Schirmer, Inc., announced that they would on
January 1 return to the price policy in force
prior to July 1, 1918. The letter covered the
many reasons for the return to the old prices
and discounts and was accompanied by newly
published discount schedules.

STASNY ISSUES "WELCOME HOME"
FEATURE THEIR ACTIVE NUMBERS
A Number of Prominent Vaudeville Singers Al-
ready Featuring New Homecoming Song
Hamilton S. Gordon have issued a series of
booklets on the active numbers in their cat-
alog. The books have been published in an
attractive manner and contain good-sized the-
matics of most of the works. They are issued
under the following titles: "Popular Piano
Solos," "Popular Song Hits," "Bass and Bari-
tone Songs" and "Gordon's Teaching Pieces."
The A. J. Stasny Music Co. have issued a new
homecoming song entitled "Welcome Home,"
which, the professional department of the com-
pany reports, is meeting with great favor among
vaudeville singers. Bud Green and Edward
Nelson are the authors of this new number, and
the above publishers valued it so highly they
immediately rushed it into print. The song
has a very appealing melody, and the lyrics are
of the variety that are bound to have an attrac-
tion under the present conditions.
"When the Yanks Come Marching Home,"
the number written months ago by William
Jerome and now published by the A. J. Stasny
Music Co., has been given new lyrics to meet
the present needs, and the firm contemplates
an immediate campaign to bring the number
publicity.
