NEW SOUSA MARCH FOR SAM FOX CO.
Manager Visits Harris Offices and Finds Just
the Songs He Needs for His Show
Cleveland Publishers to Issue New American
Wedding March by Noted Composer
A well-known manager of one of the largest
minstrel companies now in rehearsal called up
the Chas. K. Harris offices regarding ballads
for his opening first part. "I have tried hun-
dreds of them, but they don't seem to suit," he
complained, "what have you got to show me?"
He was shown "If You Hear Them Calling
Clancy, He's My Boy." "That's great for an
end number—what have you in the line of bal-
lads," he then asked. "Smile When I'm Leav-
ing, Don't Cry When I'm Gone" was then dem-
onstrated for him. "Wonderful," he said.
"What else?" "L'nder the Blue Skies of France"
then followed. "The best I ever heard," he
said. He then listened to Mr. Harris' new bal-
lad, "Why Did You Come Tnto My Life?"
which almost "floored" him. "I take off my
hat to the House of Harris, for no doubt my
company will be a great success on the road
with the Harris songs," and so it goes down the
line—everybody pleased. "One, Two, Three,
Boys, Over the Top We Go" is also well on its
way to a big success, as is also Eddie Porray's
novelty ballad, "Bring Back Those By-Gone
Davs to Me."
The Sam Fox Co., Cleveland, O., announce
that they have made arrangements with John
Philip Sousa for the publication of his new
wedding march written at the request of the
American public and dedicated to the American
people. Lieutenant Sousa's new march is in-
tended to supersede the old standard German
wedding marches, and it is the belief of the
publishers that it will be in enormous demand.
This makes the second of Sousa's compositions
to be published by the Sam Fox Co.

TO OFFER THREE NEW NUMBERS
The Meyer Cohen Music Co. have arranged
to place on the market several new numbers, in-
cluding "Mothers of France," by Leo Wood;
"My Mary's Kyes," by Leo Wood and Wirt
Dennison, and "Somebody Stole My Gal," by
Leo Wood, as well as "Where Do They Get
Those Guys?" one of the hits of "Sinbad." Mr.
Cohen states that the ballad "That's What God
Made Mothers For," and Blanche Merrill's
clever number "My Syncopated Melody Man,"
are proving big sellers right now.
Vaudeville Team Wire Witmark & Sons Regard-
ing Popularity This Number is Receiving
M. Witmark & Sons have received an enthu-
siastic telegram from Carlisle & Romer, who
recently played in Boston, the telegram reading:
" 'That Soothing Serenade' tremendous hit.
Took eight encores to-night." This is not sur-
prising, as Miss Carlisle with her exceptionally
line soprano voice, with Mr. Romer playing the
obligato on his violin, was able to put the song
over with exceptional success. "That Soothing
Serenade" is the work of Harry De Costa.

MISS ROSEN WITH MEYER COHEN
Experienced Saleswoman and Demonstrator
Meeting With Great Success
Although women salesfolk are not new in the
musk- publishing field, still they have been very
scarce heretofore. Now/ however, the females
are invading this field as they are other fields.
One of the latest entrants is Miss Mildred
Rosen, now with the Meyer Cohen Music Co.
Miss Rosen, who has had several years' expe-
rience in the music field, not only acts as dem-
onstrator at the Cohen Co. offices, but covers
much of the metropolitan district for the sales
department. Her pleasing personality, in addi-
tion to her ability as a pianist, to say nothing of
good selling sense, has won her great success.
