ISSUE NEW LIBERTY LOAN SONG
"What Are You Going to Do to Help the Boys?"
Published by J. H. Remick & Co.
A new song has just been issued by J. H.
Remick & Co. entitled "What Are You Going
to Do to Help the Boys?" The words of the
new sons are by Gus Kahn, and the music by
Hubert Van Alstyne, and the whole is a melo-
dious plea to help the soldiers by buying Lib-
erty Bonds if you are too old or young to be
with them "over there." The song is to be used
in the next Liberty Loan campaign by a large
number of organizations and their workers and
should be the means of stimulating enthusiasm.
J. H. Remick & Co. in the meantime will start
popularizing the number which on its merits
alone .should prove a large seller.
THAT following a complaint made by a mem-
ber of the Federal Investigating Board in Chi-
cago regarding the Feist song, "There'll Be a
Hot Time for the Old Men When the Young
Men Go Away," the publishers have withdrawn
the song from the market.
THAT there was considerable, question as to ihc
song being in any sense patriotic, but the Feist
house took action without entering into any
controversy.
THAT M. Witmark & Sons will publish the score
of the new musical comedy, "Yours Truly," in
which T. Roy Barnes will be starred.
THAT following the success of the revival of
"Break the News to Mother," Chas. K. Harris
plans to give the same treatment to his former
child ballad success, "Always in the Way."
THAT Leo Feist, Inc., have purchased from the
Triangle Music Co., New Orleans, two numbers
from that company's catalog, namely, "I'm Sorry
I Made You Cry" and "Don't Leave Me, Daddy."
THAT both songs have already met with consid-
erable success, and the "Daddy" song has been
especially well received.
THAT Remick & Co. have just released Blanche
Ring's song hit, "Bing 'Em on the Rhine." This
was written by Jack Mahoney.
THAT to judge from the number of "Daddy"'
songs, there has been no recent drop in the
birth rate in the United States.
TWO PROMISING NEW SONGS
'For the Two of Us" and "I Hate to Lose You,"
Issued by Waterson, Berlin & Snyder
Waterson, Berlin & Snyder recently issued
two new songs, and both of them show great
promise of attaining the popularity that has
been set as a precedent by such publications of
that firm as "For Me and My Gal," "Joan of
Arc" and "A Baby's Prayer at Twilight." The new
numbers are entitled "I Hate to Lose You" and
"For the Two of Us." As usual the Waterson,
Berlin & Snyder organization is working hard
to make these songs leaders in their class.
THEATRES BAR UNPATRIOTIC SONGS
ADDITIONS TO STASNY STAFF
Walter King, formerly with J. H. Remick
&• Co., has been appointed Chicago manager of
the A. J. Stasny Music Co. Earl Burtnett, ac-
cording to the same announcement, has again
joined the Stasny forces and will be located at
the San Francisco office of the firm.
At least one theatrical manager has banned
from the stages of a number of theatres under
his control all songs that could be construed as
unpatriotic, or suggestive, in any sense. He
declares that this is the time to impress the
public with the fact that the theatres are de-
veloping the spirit of patriotism in the nation.
