T is a new machine. Probably one of the most remarkable automatic
machines ever invented.
It is used for making the valve blocks for the Simplex Unit Pneumatics.
Three years ago we were using a machine which made excellent blocks. We
hardly thought we could improve on that particular machine. But our experi-
mental department seemed to believe that we could make a better one.
They conceived a machine which should have far greater capacity. A
machine which should be unfailingly accurate under all conditions of weather
and temperature. A machine which should do away more and more with the
variables of hand work.
The picture shows the result of their three years' work along these lines.
This new Simplex Valve Block Machine produces in two hours the amount
of work which nine other machines do in a day. Furthermore it produces valve
blocks of unvarying uniformity.
And one of the most interesting features in this day of labor scarcity is that
it is so highly automatic that a girl can operate it.
You ask why a machine which you will perhaps
never see should be a matter of importance to you
who sell or make player pianos? It is important for
just this reason—that it emphasizes the continuous
progress of the Simplex Player Action Company in
its efforts to give absolutely the best service to the
users of their actions and explains why, in the face
of advancing labor and material costs, we are able'
to sell the Simplex Action at practically the same price
as before the war.
The making of valve blocks is but one small item
in the making of a player action. We were producing
a perfectly satisfactory block, but we believed that we
could give better service if we produced an even better
block. So we spent three years and $10,000 to make
these improvements.
And this is but one item in our constant program
of delivering the best product we can.
TO PIANO MERCHANTS
We do not need to speak of the popularity of the
player piano. We do not need to speak of the need of
dependability in the player pianos you sell.
But we do want to bring home one thing, namely:
If you will specify Simplex Actions in your players,
you will raise the percentage of satisfied customers
higher than you can ever imagine—before you have
actually sold an instrument containing the Simplex
Action, and have demonstrated its easy playing plus
freedom from repair trouble.
You ought to have our Simplex Action Book. It
will give you more information about player construc-
tion than anything you ever read. Describes the
famous Simplex features—the Simplex Unit Pneu-
matic; Simplex Simplified Valve; Simplex Trapezoid
Tracker Bar, etc. Write for a copy today.
