Chappell & Co. Publish Volume of Songs Com-
posed by Ward-Stephens
Ward-Stephens, organist of the First Church
of Christ, Scientist, of New York City, is the
author of a book of six songs, known as "The
Ward-Stephens Musical Settings of Sacred
Words," published by Chappell & Co. The con-
tents include "Praise God for Life Made New"
(Illumination), "Shepherd, Take Me by the
Hand," "Love Never Faileth," "In My Father's
House Are Many Mansions," "Love Not the
World" and "Awake, Thou That Sleepest."
The series of songs were composed for the
purpose of aiding church singers who transfer
their affections professionally from a church of
one denomination to that of another and who
are at times confronted with the problem of a
suitable repertoire. The composer has made a
selection of texts which are admirably suited to
any church service and because of the varied
character of the words and music are a useful
contribution to any church singer's repertoire.
The numbers are so arranged as to be readily
played on either piano or organ, with equal
facility, and without lost expression.
