THAT according to an earnest historian there
is no truth in the report that Nero played the
fiddle while Rome was burning-.
THAT the reason advanced was that violins
were not made for several centuries after Rome
had been reduced to ashes.
THAT Dick Whiting, who composed the
Remick hit "And They Called It Dixie Land,"
has written another song for the same house
entitled "Mammy's Little Coal Black Rose,"
which has a distinct Dixie flavor.
THAT Theo. Presser, the Philadelphia music
publisher, has let a contract for the erection of
eighteen houses in Yeadon, Pa., for his em-
ployes.

low," for Columbia records, which will short-
ly be released. "I Want a Fox-Trot" is a
new instrumental production by the Granville
Co., which Manager Chas. Lang says will be
one of the hits of the season. "Hula Lou," a
new Hawaiian song recently released by the
same publishers, is reported receiving a favor-
able reception.

WALTER J. POND ON TOUR
Walter J. Pond, the blind composer, has been
touring through New England singing his own
compositions with great success. Among the
songs sung by Mr. Pond the following are in-
cluded: "We're All for Uncle Sam," "Old Fash-
ioned Garden," "Dreaming Dreams of You,"
and an Indian song called "Put Your Mocca-
sins in my Tent." The Estate of Hamilton S.
Gordon are the publishers of the above songs.
W. C. POLLA'S NEW SONG
The new song by Will Polla and Jeff JJraneii,
"When Evening Shadows Fall," seems to be in
favor with many professionals. This, together
with the arranging Polla is doing, is making
him a very busy man.
