AY back in 1867, the year of the Paris Exposition, an American upright
piano—uprights were new then—created a sensation among European
musicians.
Franz Liszt, the master, marveled at its "peculiar richness of tone," its "extreme
solidity of construction." And he deemed it "highly desirable that the use and enjoy-
ment of these instruments should be attainable for European pianists."
The piano he praised then was an instrument that had held honored place in
American homes for nearly thirty years.
As years rolled by, more and more musicians have marveled—great Rubenstein,
brilliant Johann Strauss. On down to our own golden-voiced Mary Garden,
to Constantino, Boninsegna and many others.
World expositions have awarded rich medals and impressive parchments.
Throughout all these 77 years, that "richness of tone," the "solidity of construc-
tion" have remained the soul and body of Hallet & Davis Pianos.
And the 77 years have brought greater and greater demand. With it, wonder-
fully improved methods and facilities for manufacture.
Today a great, beautiful building, set amid open fields, has evolved from the little
shop in city streets where the first Hallet & Davis Piano was born. The craftsmen
who build this master piano work in wide rooms flooded with sunlight—doubtless
weaving some of this sunlight into the tone they build into the pianos.
And today Hallet & Davis Pianos are known and loved in 100,000 homes, schools,
conservatories, the country over.
They head the list in hundreds of piano stores—leaders above the newer
instruments.
