Krnando Tanara, one of the most prominent and
successful vocal instructors and coaches in the
world.
The musical critic of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle,
i ne of the leading metropolitan dailies, in referring
i . Miss Gratz's debut,' said in part:
"Miss tiratz sang very effectively, first, Rubin-
stein's 'Es blinkt der Tau,' Schubert's 'Die Florelle'
;.IK1 Eugen Hildach's 'Der Lenz.' Equally effective
was her singing later of Pergolese's 'Se tu m'ami
se sospiri.' Exceedingly well presented was Spross'
'Yesterday and To-day,' and Rogers' dramatic
'Star' and Tanara's 'Nina' were given with such
beauty that a recall was spontaneously evoked."
The popularity of Miss Gratz was emphasized by
the lavish presentation of floral tributes, which
literally covered the stage.

inclosed by the head of a snare drum, and a larger
bell extending forward from the drum. The vi-

it sounds like a 'cello, and the notes are rich and
pleasing.
A folding music stand is another invention
placed to the credit of Mr. Dougherty. The stand
is of metal, and the rack is so constructed that it
will accommodate sheet music of various sizes.
When not in use it can be folded into a very small
and compact bundle, which slips into any case.

EXCELSIOR
DRUMS £ £ STANDARD
Some dealers may say that they cost more than
others.
Excelsior drums cost more because they are
worth more. Cost more to make.
We could make them cost less by using* cheaper
material, use less care in making 1 them, and dis-
pense with the new patented improvements.
If we did, however, Exoelsior Drams would not
be the Standard as they are to-day. Write for
catalogue.
