THREE PROMISING NUMBERS.
The G. M. Tidd Music Publishing Co., Lancas-
ter, O., has recently released several excellent song
and instrumental numbers that are being well re-
ceived. The numbers include "I Love You, Mary,
My Irish Fairy," a clever one-step; "I Love You
Sweetheart" (You Can Love Me), a dreamy waltz
ballad, and "The Land of Which I Dream," an
Irish "mother song." The songs are being used in
a number of shows.

FOR ESTIMATE

THAT a young lady in Massachusetts is declared
to have received the inspiration for a new national
anthem while going for the milk for the family
one morning.
THAT the contrariness of woman is here shown
again. A man usually gets musical inspiration while
on the way home with the milk in the morning.
THAT the interest of a Boston reporter in the
increased prices charged for Irving Berlin's music
afforded means for publicity for Billy Lang, of
Feist's; Don Ramsey, of Waterson, Berlin & Sny-
der, and Edith Thornton, of the Remick staff in
that city. They all had opinions to express and
worked in several of their own song titles.
THAT, according to the newspapers, Germany
may be short on copper and other necessities, but
she apparently has a corner on music plates, some
of them belonging to British publishers who would
like to have them very much.
THAT it is about time for that music trust rumor
to raise its head from the tall grass and roar.
THAT "Pay-Day," the interesting title of the play
now being presented at the Cort Theatre, should
make a most successful title for a really popular
song.
THAT, with so many thousands wishing for pay
day each week, they should certainly be anxious to
sing about that important event.
THAT in "Wake Up, America," Leo Feist, Inc.,
appears to have struck another of those timely
song hits.
HEART 0 ' TH' HEATHER" A HIT.
New Comedy Well Received at Boston Premiere
—Music Published by Feist.
At the Plymouth Theatre in Boston last week
George MacFarlane presented for the first time
his bright new Scotch comedy with music, "Heart
o' th' Heather," and in which he makes his appear-
ance as a most acceptable star.
The new play was particularly well received and
was accorded generous treatment by the critics
on the Boston newspapers, all of them running
long and favorable reviews of the piece and the
Boston Traveler going so far as to carry a series
of pen and ink sketches of the members of the
cast in their roles.
"Heart o' th' Heather" is full of quick action
and tells an interesting story with an enjoyable
vein of romance running through it. Mr. MacFar-
lane, as Tom Stewart, is called upon to imper-
sonate the son of a lady of quality i order to
shield her from the news that her own son is a
fugitive from justice. In the second act there is
some melodrama introduced that should appeal to
the most violent gallery god.
The book of the piece is by Glen MacDonough
and music by Raymond Hubbell, and it is due to
the latter that Mr. MacFarlane owes much of the
success of his appearance, for the manner in which
he handles the five songs allotted to the play causes
the audience to leave the theatre wishing that the
score was longer. The song hit is "Lass o' My
Dreams," which is particularly sweet and melodic,
and the other numbers are "No Man's Land,"
"Heart o' the Heather," "A Longin' for Mother"
and a rollicking ballad "In Scotland." The music
