THAT a Western composer declares that, lie-
cause he would not write ragtime, he has gained
fame as a writer of the higher class music.
THAT, for the benefit of those who desire to
keep a list of celebrities, the composer's name is
William Lester, of Keokuk, la.
THAT Edgar F. Bitner, general manager for Leo
Feist, Inc., spent Monday of this week with the
trade in the City of Culture, otherwise known as
Beantown.
THAT interpolations have an annoying habit of
proving best sellers among the selections from the
various light operas, a fact that has been proven
very strongly this season.
THAT Chappell & Co., Ltd., have prepared a spe-
cial list of music particularly suitable for St. Pat-
rick's Day, which should appeal strongly even to
those not from the "tight little isle."
THAT the recent revival of several songs that
were popular a score of years ago proves that all
old stock on the shelves is not of necessity dead
stock.
THAT Walter M. Bacon, president of the Music
Publishers' Association of the United States, spent
several days in New York last week as a delegate
to the Music Industries Chamber of Commerce at
the Hotel Astor.
