THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
The Chickering piano has received more distinguished honors from ex-
positions the world over than any other creation of human hands and brain.
One.hundred and twenty-nine medals have been awarded this distin-
guished product. Among this array of gold, silver and bronze medals
the remarkable award of the Imperial Cross of the Legion of Honor stands
unique." This recognition was given at the Paris Exposition in 1867
when the second Napoleon was on the throne of France.
This high honor was conferred upon the Chickering because of the
splendid craftsmanship embodied in the piano of 1867. The Chickering
Piano of Today is just as remarkable in its period as was the Chickering
which won the Imperial Cross of the Legion of Honor.
It is constantly developing, aided by an army of artisans, some of
whom are the third generation of craftsmen employed in the Chickering
factory.
Such a condition would be found difficult to duplicate in any indus-
trial organization; but, piano making with Chickering is like violin
making with the creators of ancient violin masterpieces.

Men must be raised in the atomosphere—must be schooled in their
craft—before they can create instruments which charm and enthrall the
critically musical people of today.
