THE COPPER SITUATION.
Some Sales Now at 11 3-4 Cents—Electrolytic
Drops Under 12 Cent Mark, Causing Active
Buying—More Metal for Great Britain.
Good sales of electrolytic copper were made
during the past week, according to statemjn.s
made by important producers. The bulk of thj
business was done at 12 cents a pound, but toward
the end of the week still lower prices were re-
corded when the metal was pressed for sale.
Elctrolytic copper broke through the 12 ccn:
mark on Friday, with cash sales down to 11 ">4
cents a pound. A few hundred thousand pounds
were involved in the transaction, which was
booked by the selling agent of a producing com-
pany and not through second hands. The copper
will be shipped shortly to the Naugatuck Valley.
The thirty day or regular equivalent of this new
low price would be 12.95 cents.
Inability to finance extensions and new project
at the moment continues to be the greatest re-
tarding factor with consumers of copper, although
