Otto F. Trefz, Jr., who inside of a year has built
up a large piano string manufacturing business at
Twenty-first street and Fairmount avenue, Phila-
delphia, Pa., has just returned from a business
trip through the Middle West, during which he
succeeded in impressing the qualities of Trefz
strings to the extent of securing some good sized
contracts for this year. This large addition of
business to his Eastern trade made it necessary to
install considerable additional machinery as wel)
as to increase the floor space of his plant.
Commenting upon business conditions. Mr.
Trefz, Jr., said : "It is evident that manufacturers
are paying closer attention to piano strings than
ever, due no doubt to the increase, in sales of
players and the fact that players are subject to a
great deal of playing. There are many qualities
and kinds of strings, the same as with other
goods, and it is my aim to make the name of Trefz
immediately signify string quality of the highest
order. It is my adherence to the quality policy
that is responsible for the rapid growth of this
business."
The Geo. H. Harper Co., manufacturers of
mahogany, oak, Circassian walnut veneers, Orange,

Venice. The February calendar is devoted to St.
Mark's Church.
