THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
BEAUTIFUL SOHMER CATALOG
Which Has Just Been Issued Is Fully in Keep-
ing with the Traditions of the Sohmer House
—Admirably Produced in Every Detail.
Sohmer & Co., 315 Fifth avenue, New York,
have just issued a new catalog devoted to Sohmer
pianos that in every detail is befitting the prestige
and standing of this old-established and time-
honored house. In compiling this catalog the co.m-
pany made every effort to eliminate all extrava-
gant claims and flamboyant phrases and descrip-
tions, and as a result -this new Sohmer publication
presents an informative and instructive treatise on
Sohmer pianos that can be used to excellent ad-
vantage by Sohmer dealers in all parts of the coun-
try.
The frontispiece of this publication is a remark-
able portrait of the late Hugo Sohmer, founder
of the house of Sohmer, and one of the most be-
loved men in the trade. The first section of the
catalog discusses briefly and interestingly the aims
and endeavors of the Sohmer family to build a
piano that was truly artistic, and the mechanical
skill, full understanding of artistic requirements
and the appreciation of the most subtle distinc-
tions of tone values that are necessary to produce
an artistic piano. One paragraph in this section
calls attention to. the fact that more than forty
thousand persons have purchased Sohmer pianos
to date. It is also remarked here that the Sohmer
piano was always made by the Sohmer family,
and that both the inner piano, referring to the
piano's construction, and the piano.'s exterior have
shared in the minute care and attention bestowed
on each and every Sohmer piano.
The pianos in the extensive Sohmer line are
shown through the medium of sharp and distinct
illustrations in sepia brown, accompanied by suf-
ficient description to satisfy both the dealer and the
prospective purchaser. The pianos listed include
the following uprights: Styles 15A, 5C, 35, 16 and
27; grands, Cupid Chippendale, Cupid Louis XV.,
9B Chippendale, 9 Chippendale and Style 12 con-
cert grand.
The last few pages of this attractive and well
written Sohmer publication refer to the Sohtner
piano's permanent tone, the service the house is
offering to its patrons, and the strong guarantee
that accompanies every instrument turned out by
Sohmer & Co. A bird's-eye view of the immense
Sohmer plant at Astoria, Long Island, N. Y., is
the closing illustration of the catalog.

BUSINESS OUTLOOK IS BRILLIANT
Says the Waltham Piano Co., of Milwaukee—
Receiving Satisfactory Volume of Orders.
(Special to The Review.)
MILWAUKEE, WIS., June 22.—Exceptionally good
business was reported by C. H. Annes, of the
Waltham Piano Co., who recently said to The
Review: "We are receiving an unusually satis-
factory volume of business at the present time and
have been for the past thirty days. While we have
been running all the men on full time right along,
we are at present running practically full capacity,
which is taxed to the utmost. The business out-
look from our viewpoint is particularly brilliant,
due to no small extent to the uniform high quality
Waltham product, the aggressive selling system
and judicious advertising. These three factors
will always make good business in dull times."
