PIANO D E A L E R S COMPOSER.
E. Mcinardus, a dealer in pianos, player-pianos,
musical merchandise, and sheet music in Kiel, Wis.,
who has written several successful instrumental
numbers and songs, has just issued a new semi-
classic song, entitled "The Old Love Lingers Still"
for which he wrote the music and Charles II.
Wagener the words. It is a very pleasing high-
class ballad which has already met with consider-
able success. The number is published by Mr.
Meinardus.

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castle, the prominent

MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
M REVIEW AEARS
THAT the members of the Music Publishers'
Association of the United States are getting ready
for a busy annual convention at the Hotel Astor
on June 9th.
THAT with the piano manufacturers, dealers and
travelers in session at the same hotel at that time
means that the music trade will be pretty well
covered.
THAT a large number of music publishers and
their assistants have been included among the pur-
chasers of seats for the Lambs' Gambol.
THAT Carl Laemmle, erstwhile music publisher,
is the first of the cult to enter the movie game
as an actor.
THAT one of the music publishing concerns that
make a speciality of handling the brain children
of amateur songwriters and composers is credited
with printing up an average of 100 new songs a
week.
THAT, at a fixed figure, the concern in question
has somewhat of an edge on those legitimate
houses who publish fewer songs, on a royalty basis,
and then try to sell them.
THAT the Waterson, Berlin, Snyder Co. has
leased a store below their new offices in the Strand
Theater Building.
I HAT "Alice of Old Vincennes" is proving one
of the greatest successes ever published by the
.McKinley Music Co.
1 HAT Richard Nugent is no longer connected
with the Edgar Selden Music Co., of which he
was one of the incorporators.
THAT a Chicago house has put one over on the
publishers of Mexican war songs by dedicating a
new number to one of the marines who was killed
at Vera Cruz under the cheerful title of "He Died
at Vera Cruz."

"In a few years' time I hope to show what I
wish to do in this way," was the violinist's final
remark, as he hurried off to catch a train to Paris,
where he is to play several times before returning
to England.
With liabilities amounting to $1,827 and as-

American audiences have been "spoiled," accord-
ing to Fritz Kreisler, the celebrated violinist, who
has just reached London from America after an
absence of nine months. In an interview with a
Daily Chronicle reporter he said :
" 1 hey have been spoiled because they have heard
eve-/ fine artist in the world, for every musician
visits them constantly. And if they do not like
your work any longer they frankly tell you so. I
was fortunate enough to please them, as I had done
some years previously, and they have made me
premise to go back there next winter."
In one respect, musically, America is remarkable,
according to Mr. Kreisler.
"Their orchestras are superb. The Boston Sym-
phony Orchestra, with which I toured, has no su-
perior anywhere in the world. And the orchestras
of New York, Chicago and other great cities are
also splendid.''
Discussing his work generally, Mr. Kreisler said
that one of his artistic ambitions was to do some-
thing for the young generation of musicians, to
help young violinists, and to give new composers
a chance by playing and popularizing their works.
