spoke. Finally a Hungarian tackled him and
found he was a compatriot. He said he was em-
ployed in a night restaurant and he thought if he
showed samples of his singing and playing per-
haps they would like to engage him for the daytime
at the Imperial.
FIFTY-TWO BOOKS ON MUSIC.
There were only fifty-two books 011 music, in-
cluding new editions, translations and pamphlets,
published in Great Britain during 1911, as against
C68 on poetry and the drama.

INCORPRATES TO PUBLISH MUSIC.
The Metropolitan Library of Music, Chicago, has
been incorporated with capital stock of $50,000 for
the 'purpose of manufacturing, publishing and
merchandising. The incorporators are: Howard
W. Brown, Charles C. Dunlap and James A. Hair.
S. N. MAYER ON COAST TRIP.
Sidney N. Mayer, of J. & C. Fischer, leaves
Sunday night on a trip through the Middle West,
and thence to the Coast, and figures to be away
about five weeks. The Fischer plant is busy, and
on player-pianos is doing a record business. Harry
T. Hawkey, of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., was a visitor
during the week and left an order.
