THE MUSIC TRADE: REVIEW
TflEREVIEWflEARS
THAT Harry von Tilzer, in a front row seat, was
the star of the audience that enjoyed Al. Reeves'
Beauty Show at the Columbia on Monday night.
THAT it looked for a time as though he would
have to sing a few of his own songs just to break
even.
THAT several music publishers are claiming the
ownership of the only hits in the new Eddy Foy
show.
THAT "Peggy" ended its run at the Casino The-
ater last Saturday night.
THAT >. H. Squire, representative _of the house
of B. Feldman & Co., the prominent London pub-
lishers and agents for several American publishers,
is at present in New York.
THAT "I Want A Girl" (Harry Von Tilzer
Music Co.) is gaining ground steadily.
THAT E. T. Paull continues to experience a
heavy demand for his various popular marches.
THAT one of the big feature numbers of "Over
The River," the new Eddy Foy production, is
"RaggityMan' (Remick).
THAT Jean Schwartz presided at the piano dur-
ing Lillian Lorraine's dance to the accompaniment
of ' T h e Chopstick Rag," of which he is the com
poser, at the opening performance of "Over the
River."
THAT "Ring Ting-a-Ling" by Jerome & Schwartz,
is also a feature number in the same show.

Berlin is now the scene of the same rivalry in
the realm of grand opera as is waged between
Covent Garden and Oscar Hammerstein's new
enterprise.
The "Kurfursten Oper," a pretentious establish-
ment, came into being the other day, when it
opened its doors in the Kurfurstendamm, in the
heart of the fashionable quarter.
The "Kurfursten Oper" intends to produce opera
on the same elaborate scale as the Kaiser's Royal
Opera in Unter den Linden, and to wage active
competition with that institution.
The new house began operations well with a
brilliantly staged revival of Nicolai's "Merry Wives
of Windsor*"
FAMOUS KEY HOME TO GO.
Banner"
The old Colonial house in Georgetown in which
Francis Scott Key, who wrote "The Star Spangled
Banner," lived will be torn down next spring to
make room for a business building.
In 1907 the Francis Scott Key Memorial Asso-
ciation was formed to raise funds with which to
purchase the property and to preserve it. The
purchase price was $15,000, but the association
failed to raise the money.

Witmark Production Successes
Stella Tracey, promincii: hi the musical comedv
field as the star in "A Chinese Honeymoon," "A
Prince of To-Night" and other productions, re-
cently entered vaudeville, where she has met with
unusual success. She is a clever actress and talente-l
singer and manages to get the best effects out of
her various songs. The big feature number of her
act is "That Italian Serenade," the latest Feist hit,
which she "puts across" in an inimitable manner.
A BREEZY HOUSE ORGAN.
The second issue of The Scherzo, published by
the White-Smith Music Pub. Co., Boston, New
York, and Chicago, is a breezy little house organ
to come across the desk. Of course, it deals pri-
marily with the White-Smith music, but this ad-
vertising is so arranged with the reading matter
that the volume makes line reading. This will be
issued quarterly in the future, and mailed free
upon aplication.
A CINCINNATI INCORPORATION.
The Progressive Music Publishing Co., Cincin-
nati, O., has been incorporated with capital stock
of $10,000.
The Professional campaign
and Advertising campaign on
the song
"THAT ITALIAN SERENADE"
must have been well planned,
as the demands which are
reaching us for this number
are unusually large con-
sidering that the song has
been published but one
month.
Practically all the head-
line artists who sang "THAT
DREAMY ITALIAN WALTZ" are
featuring
"THAT ITALIAN SERENADE"
