son is already to be heard.
THAT the sounds indicate much activity to
come, with loud promises of prosperity.
THAT some of Chas. K. Harris' recent announce-
ments do seem like an echo of the Trebuhs deal.
THAT those who thought Chas. K. did not know
what he was about are invited to guess again.
THAT Victor Herbert has had as his guest at
Camp Joyland, Lake Placid, N. Y., Joseph Her-
bert, now his collaborator.
THAT Kva Tanguay has purchased a sixty-acre
farm in Ashfield, Mass., but we refuse to think
up a new way to use "I Don't Care" on that
account.
THAT the Ross R. Day Piano Co., of Lyons,
Kan., contemplate adding a sheet music department
to their business.
THAT Manager Wertheimer, of the Seymour
Furth Music Co., says we have never mentioned
his name in print, but we find he s wrong.
THAT Belle Blanche, whom we mentioned last
week as the composer of five new Tanguay songs,
has been signed by Chas. K. Harris.
THAT Will Rossiter has purchased from Harry
Newman the song, "I'll Meet You, Honey, in
Honeysuckle Time."
THAT John Cort, who is to produce the new*
musical comedy, "Jinga Boo," will reside in New
York for the winter.
THAT Adolph Philipp, producer of the German
version of "Alma, Wo Wohnst Du?" will forsake
the stage after the coming season and devote his
time to writing.
THAT "Our Miss Gibbs"' was played at the
Gaiety Theater, London, recently for the five hun-
dredth time.
THAT George Totten Smith is writing the book

THAT Chas. K. Harris is taking his vacation
by spending Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays
at his summer home in Long Branch, N. J.
THAT the offices of the Greenough Music Co., in
the Shubert building, have been closed for some
time, the address for mail being Montciair, N. J.
THAT it is proposed to utilize the upper part of
the building at 1431 Broadway, where several
music publishers have offices, for hotel purposes.
THAT Walter Jacobs, of Boston, and F. B. Havi-
land, of New York, have been presenting each
other with some very pretty business bouquets of
late.
THAT Haviland thinks Jacobs' Orchestra
Monthly is the real thing, and J. O. M. wishes
Haviland the same.
THAT about all the hits in the present revues in
Paris are American songs, according to Charles
Dillingham.
Shuberts, will also be published by Mr. Harris.
Mark Swan is writing the book, Edward Madden
the lyrics and Lou Ilirsch the music. The piece
is as yet unnamed.

"Sweetest Girl in Paris," at La Salle
Theater, Chicago—Mort H. Singer Also in

Harry Askin, the energetic young theatrical man-
ager of Chicago, who was recently declared legally
the victor over the Singer forces in the matter of
the management of La Salle Theater, in that city,
was in New York last week completing the cast
for the new musical comedy which he plans to pro-
duce at that playhouse on August 21. Tt is to be
called "The Sweetest Girl in Paris," the announce-
ment of which title exclusively in the Chicago cor-
respondence of The Review last Saturday spread

to the "Rialto" and aroused considerable interest.
The new piece is by Addison Burkhardt and Colin elude a musical comedy the book and lyrics of
Davis, with music by Joseph E. Howard. The which are by Rida Johnson Young, the brilliant
music will be published by Chas. K. Harris.
Mr. Askin made his headquarters at the offices
of that music publisher while he was in town, and
whether because of the controversy in the courts
over the La Salle Theater, or in spite of it—who
can say which ?—Mort H. Singer, who came to New
York, also made his headquarters there, as did
Herman Fehr, also of Chicago.
The Shuberts and William A. Brady are to pro-
duce a new opera by Victor Herbert and Joseph
Herbert, the result of the first collaboration be-
tween the Herberts. Fritzi Scheff will be starred
in the piece, which will be a version of "Trilby"
in musical form. The title has not yet been an-
nounced. The music will be published by Chas.
K. Harris.
