That Is, They Are Correct, Since There Were
No Originals, Really—History of Song Hit in
"Sweetest Girl in Paris."
"Imitations," one of the song hits of the season
and certainly one of the screaming hits of "The'
Sweetest Girl in Paris," according to a writer in
Chicago, where that musical comedy is now run-
ning, was neither written nor composed, in the
opinion of Trixie Friganza, who sings the number.
"You might say it was sired by Colin Davis and
that its dam- was Invention, descended from that
good old mare, Necessity," says the fair Trixie
in some "press dope" recently sent out in behalf
o! the new Harry Askin production. Colin Davis
is held responsible for the lyrics of the show, Addi-
son Burkhardt for the book, and Joseph E. How-
ard the music. The music is published by Chas.
K. Harris. As to this particular bit of press mat-
ter, it is decidedly novel and interesting, giving the
history of the song mentioned as in the words of
Miss Friganza, as follows:
