auspices of the United Commercial Travelers and
the Travelers' Protective Association to "boom
prosperity," will be held at the Hotel Victoria
August 14-15. Some 5,000 traveling salesmen,
buyers and merchants are expected to attend
and join in the movement which the two asso-
ciations have started to help along the return
to normal business conditions. Many speeches
will be made and plans, suggestions and resolu-
tions offered.

EARLY CO. BUY QUIST BUSINESS.
The P. O. Evans Co., who represent the Story
& Clark interests in Des Moines, la., have moved
from their old quarters to the Bwing building,
Ninth and Locust streets, where they have con-
siderably more room and better opportunities for
catering to their customers.
The Early Music Co., of Ft. Dodge, la., have
purchased the music business of Carl Quist, who
retires to give his entire attention to his band.
MORE CARS AT WORK.
Number of Those Idle Reduced by 9,800 in July.
The fortnightly report of the American Rail-
way Association on the number of idle cars in
the country, made public Monday last, for the
two weeks ended July 8, showed a further re-
duction in unemployed freight cars amounting
to about 9,800. This reduces the number of idle
freight cars in this country and Canada on the
lines reporting to the association to 303,042,
against 312,847 on June 24 and a maximum of
413,338 on April 29.

TRAVELERS' PROSPERITY CONGRESS.
Theodore J. Miller, of Dixon, 111., has secured
the agency of the Schaeffer piano for that city
and locality.
The first session of the Commercial Travelers'
Interstate Congress, created under the joint
