MY BRTJDDA SYLVEST "ON THE JOB."
Josephine Sabel, Popular Vaudeville Star, Fea-
turing "L-O-V-E Spells Trouble for Me"—Has
Carried Other Songs to Success.
If Nat Shay, of the firm of Fred Fischer &
Co., ever runs for President he will, likely as
not, get to the White House—that is, if post-
As a globe-trotter, Miss Josephine Sabel, the card publicity is a .fair criterion of his vote-get-

iting the principal cities of the world, leaving be- undated with post cards bearing the chaste mes-
hind her a streak of success, which her sisters sage: "Dear Friend—Just want to tell you that
in art might well envy. Miss Sabel has many we are knocking them off the seats with Fred
notable achievements to her credit. It was due Fischer's "My Brudda Sylvest." Added to this,
to her that "A Hoi Time in the Old Town To- is the thoughtful invitation, "Join in the chorus."
Now, the Italian dialect of the said "Man on the
Street" is every bit as bad as the German dialect
of the average "German" comedian, so in express-
ing his sorrow that he is unable to comply with
the "joining in" suggestion, he willingly gives
publicity to the fact that "My Brudda Sylvest"
is "scoring greatest knockout in years. See news-
papers" (this last being written on another post
card). What with "knocking them off their
seats" and "scoring knockouts," we imagine that
the song is somewhat strenuous. For all of
which may the Lord make us truly thankful!

Ruth White, the charming little singer who

cal comedy route, is gaining new laurels in "The

Night" became—President Roosevelt dissenting—
almost a national air, and no doubt it will be
largely due to her that a new song, recently pub-
lished by Leo Feist, called "L—O—V—E Spells
Trouble to Me," will reach that much-to-be-desired
goal in the retailing world known as a "hit."
Leo Feist recently confided to the writer that
he would rather have Josephine Sabel sing one of
his songs than any other artist in America. When
asked why, he replied: "Because she is far and
away the greatest artist of her kind in the
country," all of which goes to show that
"L—O—V—E Spells Trouble to Me" is in good
hands.
We regret to announce that Theodore Bendix,
the well-known composer and music publisher,
has teen seriously ill.

Joe Weber and his company made their first
New York appearance of the season on Monday
night at the West End Theatre. Mr. Weber's new
offering this season is a burlesque on "The
Devil," by George V. Hobart. The musical num-
bers are published by M. Witmark & Sons and
Maurice Shapiro.
In an article entitled "Ted Snyder Co. Increase
Space" which appeared in this section of the
Review last week, it was stated that the Ted
Snyder Co. had secured the American catalog
of the Monte Carlo Music Publishing Co. of
London, Eng. This is an error, as the catalog
in question is controlled by T. B. Harms &
Francis Day & Hunter of 1431 Broadway, New
York.

AN IRRESISTIBLE
DEALE
We have the greatest ballad since "When the Evening
Breeze is Sighing 'Home, Sweet Home' " and by the
same author. It is entitled
and which is playing to crowded houses. One
of the features of Miss White's performances,
which improves it immensely, is her singing of
"I Wish I Had a Girl" (Thompson Music Co.).
The dainty prima donna, clad as a boy, makes
a particularly fetching appearance, as is shown
by the accompanying photograph. She has a
soprano voice of delightful quality and the re-
quisite chic for interpreting the role which she
plays in "The Burgomaster."
