THE MUSIC TRADE
"THE THREE TWINS" CELEBRATE.
REVIEW
by all of the clever people who have helped the
"Three Twins" to grow strong and healthy in
public favor.
Whether or not the ever-observing "Witmark"
saw the envious eyes cast by our "Man on
the Street" on the souvenir score is a moot point,
but it is certain that the morning's mail brought
one, securely packed and duly autographed.
"The Three Twins" will celebrate its 150th
performance next Thursday evening. "Come on
up," wrote Otto Jordan, of the Witmark staff.
In answer to this invitation, our "Man on the
Street" found himself again watching the antics
of the three young gentlemen who have set
Broadway laughing for nigh on to six months.

Bessie McCoy (what an odd little thing she
is, to be sure) sang her "Yama Yama Man," as
indeed did the audience, with more vim than
ever, and the dainty "Cuddle Up a Little Closer,
Lovey Mine," brought down the house. Are
there any other good musical numbers in the
piece? We should say so. "The Three Twins"
is full of good numbers, for Carl Hoschna is a
musician, so far above the ordinary, that only
good music can be expected of him.
Of course, no anniversary performance is com-
plete without a souvenir of some description,
and so M. Witmark & Sons presented each and
every lady in the audience with a complete
vocal score, beautifully bound, and autographed

Among Chappell & Co.'s new issues for the
month is an excellent little song entitled "A
Little Farther," written by Frederick Norton,
who is also responsible for the tuneful melody.
This song, which was interpolated into Marie
Cahill's musical play, "The Boys and Betty,"
scored an instantaneous success, and will be
heard in New York at Wallack's Theater on Mon-
day next, when, no doubt, a more extended com-
ment on its merits will be made. Frederic Norton
is already well known on this side of the water,
being the composer of the ballad "Madcap Mar-
jorie." He is a delightfully modest young fel-
low and writes both lyrics and music to all his
songs, taking both time and pains in his work.

copyright law, no firmer friend or champion in
their interests can be found than Dr. A. J.
Barchfeld, Member of Congress from the Thirty-
cecond district of Pennsylvania.
Ever since the present inadequate copyright
laws were brought to his attention, Congress-
man Barchfeld, with the fairness and persever-
ance for which he is noted, has labored long
and earnestly on behalf of what he deems the
rights of the song writers and composers. With
painstaking labor and infinite care he intro-
duced in Congress what is known as the Barch-
feld bill, which aims to protect the copyrighted
works of composers of music, so that they may
receive a royalty from the manufacturers of
talking machines and other devices reproducing
them. His bill, as well as others, received a hear-
ing before the joint patent committee. Dr.
Barchfeld has done important work on commit-
tees investigating and making reforms for hos-
pitals, his experience as a physician qualifying
him for this kind of work. His friends—and
they are legion—predict great things for him.
