THE MUSIC TRADE
REVIEW
Some "inside workings of the Grown Piano
Patented Dec. 15, 1903
Number 746823
Two sectional views of the Geo. P. Bent Patent Automatic Adjusting Action which takes up the lost motion when the soft or pian-
issimo pedal is used. The illustration at the left is a direct end view showing position of the action when the practice clavier bar stops the
hammer, and prevents it striking the strings. The illustration at the right is an end view of the action from a point a little above
the center—this shows the position of the action when the soft pedal is used, but no keys depressed. Note the position of the jack; it is the
same as when the soft pedal is not used, consequently there can be no lost motion. Our method is by far the simplest and the most effect-
ive of any yet introduced. But one additional center is required (as shown at end of abstract or sticker) whereas all other lost motion de-
vices have two and three additional centers which mean more friction and consequently a heavier touch and a greater liability to get out of
order. We own these patented features and they can be found" in JIO other make of piano.
The center section of our metal flange bar as used in all Crown Pianos.
Manner of attaching hammer butt to metal flange.
All damper blocks have brass screw bushings. There are any number of meritorious points in Crown Pianos. Have you seen our 1905 Models?
