Music Lesson Certificates
show such a splendid line of music boxes and
talking machines as this popular house. Their
Mira and Stella boxes are known from coast to
coast, while the Miraphone (a combination talk-
ing machine and music box) has become exceed-
ingly popular and fills a special demand most
diate neighborhood which they use for repair
and storage purposes.
The business of the company is under the di-
rect supervision of C. H. Jacot and his son, A.
H. Jacot, who are better prepared than ever to-
day to meet the demands of the trade.
Some idea of the crops this year and their
commercial value can be obtained from a com-
parison with the situation of eight or ten years
ago. The wheat crop this year is in excess of
675,000,000 bushels, and prices are around 85 cents
a bushel. A few years ago the crop was about
500,000,000 bushels and prices 70 cents and below.
The present corn crop is placed at 2,700,000,000
bushels and is bringing 43 cents and 44 cents a
bushel, while a few years ago the crop was less
than 2,000,000,000 bushels and prices were 20
cents and 25 cents a bushel. Samuel J. Tilden
once said that the time would come when the
country would need most of its wheat crop for
domestic consumption, but its corn crop would
swell to 3,000,000,000 bushels. As wheat exports
are running only 1,000,000 or 2,000.000 bushels a
week and the present crop comes within a short
distance of the large total predicted, the far-
sightedness of the observation is self-evident.
