THE
MUSIC TRADE

In tHe Musical Merchandise Domain
instrument occupies the same relative posi-
tion in musical merchandise as the piano
does in the general music trade, and it is
surprising what an increase there has been
in the sales of the year. Banjos are dull, and
mandolins have fallen away, but in guitars
business is steady. Accordeons have sold
remarkably well, due in great measure to
improved construction and better finish.
Brass instruments always sell right along,
like staple goods, in fact, taking small
goods as a whole, sales have been very sat-

The remarkable success achieved by the
Hohner firm in the field of accordeon mak-
ing is doubtless due largely to the excep-
tional merit of the instruments in the
matter of substantial make and artistic
finish. It is found possible, by having
the parts made and assembled at the fac-
tory, instead of at the homes of the people
engaged in manufacture of the several
parts, to make a more satisfying product.
The results obtained are more uniform and
in other respects more creditable to the
Hohner firm. The Hohner motto at all
times is the best and only the best.

From His European Jaunt in February—Interna-

J. O. Prescott, who went abroad in Oc-
tober to familiarize himself with the line
of the International Talking Machine Co.,
m. b. h., of Berlin, Germany, has been in
Paris recently and is now in Italy. He
will return to the German capital in a few
weeks, and about the middle of February
expects to leave for New York, bringing
with him a complete record outfit of the
company, including French, Spanish, Ger-
man and Italian discs. Mr. Prescott plans
establishing an agency for the Interna-
tional Co. here, carrying their goods in
stock, and perhaps operating a manufactur-
ing plant.

Future scanning projects are planned by the International Arcade Museum Library (IAML).
