THE
with a doubtful man with five, and I may say,
ten times that capital.
"Furthermore, the volume of business of
any given risk is usually in proportion to its
capital, and then again the integrity or mor-
als and the capacity of the risk, plays a most
important part.
"Right here it might be well to add that
the greatest weakness of our present commer-
cial system is the desire, in such a large pro-
portion of cases, to try to do too much busi-
ness on the capital invested.
"When times are good and confidence is
flourishing this weakness is not so apparent,
but let the wheels of our machine become
ever so little clogged, and the firms operating
too largely on credit are at once in distress.
"Let us all use our influence to make mor-
als and capacity greater factors in our credits,
and to limit business more nearly to a just
proportion of invested capital.
"The golden age, it is but too true, is not I
the lot of the generation in which we live,
but if it is to be found in any part of the
track marked out for human existence, it
will be found, I trust, not in any port which
is past, but in some port which is to come."

"THE FINEST PIANO IN TOWN."
This week's report at the Behr Bros. &
Co. factory shows healthy business condi-
tions. Letters regarding the new style A
continue to arrive. Here is one of the latest:

Gentlemen:—I herewith send you New
York draft. The instrument has not yet
reached its destination, but I presume it wili
turn up very shortly,.
Sincerely yours, O. G. Hertzog.
P. S.—As this missed the mail Saturday,
I am pleased to say the piano has been re-
ceived and the family are delighted with it
and consider it the finest piano in the town.
They seem very appreciative and grateful
that I dissuaded them from putting in a
cheap piano. I trust it will open the way for
other sales.

STRICH & ZEIDLER STYLE H.
An industry succeeds by identifying itself

"When we designed our style H several
years ago, said William Strich, in talking
of the firm's successes, "introducing allegor-
ical bas-relief panels, we had no idea that it
would become a standard design. As a mat-
ter of fact there has been hardly any let-up
on style H since it was first placed on our
regular list. Hundreds have been construct-
ed and sold, many of them for wedding and
birthday
presents. Our parlor or baby grand,
