CECILIAN RECITAL IN DAYTON.
A musical affair of distinct social interest

and for beauty of expression and delicacy of
technique, there is no more perfect instrument
before the people to-day than this wonderful
interpreter of piano music, and all who heard
it, as played by Mr. Pierce, were united in
their praises. The soloists are all favorites
in this city and the program was indeed a
treat to the several hundreds in attendance.

EMERSON LITERATURE.
The Emerson Piano Co., of Boston, have
just issued a very attractively designed cata-
logue containing descriptions and illustra-
tions of their latest styles. A special feature
is their new Emerson style cabinet grand
which they describe as "a magnificent and im-
posing specimen of modern French architec-
ture. The design of this case while rich and
massive has a delicate, clear-cut outline. The
graceful sweep of the trusses, the symmetri-
cal proportions of the cheeks, and the hand-
some design of panel, combined with the fin-
est of under-cut hand carving, make it one
of the most superb samples of modern art
before the public to-day."

The Krell-French Piano Co., of New Cas-
tle, Ind., have some really handsome designs
of pianos and piano casings now in process
of manufacture. Those who have seen the
instruments have been extending congratula-
tions to Albert Krell and his associates on
the splendid work which they have accom-
plished, notwithstanding the many disagree-
able and unsought-for setbacks they have ex-
perienced.
NEW ENGLAND CO. AFFAIRS MIXED.
In connection with the sale of the prop-
erty of the New England Piano Co. by the
receiver, quite some opposition has developed
on the part of the Union Trust Co., which
holds a mortgage for $250,000 on the prop-
erty. A number of other claims have since
cropped up and the entire situation is badly
mixed. Meanwhile the sale of the property
will probably be held shortly as the applica-
tion of the trustee to sell at private or public
sale has been acceded to.
The Hallet & Davis Co., of Boston, are
giving a series of Chase & Baker piano player
recitals in their warerooms in that city, which
have been and are attracting some very select
audiences. At the recitals there is always a
vocal soloist.
