THE
musical department. Last January Mr. Mey-
ers began to srspect that something was go-
ing wrong in the musical department. In-
vestigation, made quietly, showed that Greg-
ory had been selling gra.phophones to custom-
ers of the house and collecting the money
himself. In this way he is said to have stolen
between $1,500 and $2,000.
Mr, Meyers notified Police Headquarters
and Detective Nugent walked into the store
on the afternoon of Jan. 20 to make the ar-
rest. Gregory, seeing Xugent, whom he
knew, walked over to the elevator, ran it up
one floor, got out and walked downstairs.
Nothing had been seen of him since by the
firm or the police. Manager Manheim of the
firm went to the Morgue yesterday and iden-
tified Gregory's body.
