CARLISLE:
PIANOTIST LITERATURE.
Cleverly written, handsomely printed and
illustrated is the interesting volume devoted
to the Pianotist piano-player and its possi-
bilities, which has just been issued by the
Adek Manufacturing Co., manufacturers,
503 Fifth avenue, this city.
The special points wherein the Pianotist
excels are placed before the reader briefly
but comprehensively, and the advantages of
the player from various viewpoints are dis-
cussed in such a logical manner as to impress
the reader.
This, it seems to us, is the test of a book
devoted to the exploitation of any specialty.
It is so easy to be extravagant in language,
or to be just the opposite—too modest.
There is, however, a happy medium between
the two extremes, and this volume has evi-
dently been designed along these lines. It
tells the story of Piano'tist accomplishments
from its earliest stages up to its present
position in the musical world. The opin-
ions of some of the eminent professionals
who have spoken so enthusiastically of the
Pianotist are given, as well as much in-
formation regarding the music department
and other matters of interest.
The Pianotist piano-player is unique in
the fact that it can be operated either by
treadle or electricity, and a device which
automatically operates the loud and soft
pedals of the piano may be used in combi-
nation with the latter, thus eliminating the
effect of mechanical music.
Dealers or musicians interested in piano-
players would do well to write for this com-
pendium of information regarding the Pia-
notist, which, it will be remembered, was
honored with a medal at the Paris Expo-
sition of 1900.
