THE
Two big landmarks of prosperity, the union
of the Stars and Stripes with the Union
Jack in the music publishing field.
As the name Witmark is known from
Maine to California, so will it be known
throughout Europe. An American who has
been traveling around England lately, wrote

Review this week speaks
for itself, and it is an an-
nouncement that a firm
can well be proud of, for
it is unique. We have
made mention before of
the extraordinary fact of
one firm publishing the
score of fifteen musical
comedies, all of which are
now playing, and we could
expatiate at length on many
other Witmark successes,
but we have not the space.
What we will say once for
all is that every success
obtained by the firm of M.
Witmark & Sons in the
past will be repeated, dou-
bled and trebled in the fu-
ture.
BESSIE CLAYTON WILL BE
WELCOMED.
The patrons of Weber
and Fields—and there are
many of them—will rejoice
when they hear that Bes-
sie Clayton will once more
be seen at the little music hall on Broadway
and Twenty-ninth street. Her absence has
been the one thing that kept this popular
house from being quite itself. Dave War-
field might go, but we got Sam Bernard,
and the same with Charles J. Ross, whose
place Fritz Williams has filled so well; but
no one could take the place of "Our Bessie,"
BESSIE CLAYTON.
who is undoubtedly the most wondertul toe
dancer in the world. She will return when
the burlesque of "The Message from Mars"
is put on, which will be within the next two
weeks, and that Bessie Clayton will meet

to a friend on this side: "I have been in
many different music halls in England, and
with the exception of very few, I have al-
ways found a Witmark publication figuring
on the program. In London the following
songs ARE HITS: 'My Blushing Rosie,'
'Cupid Might Have Been a Little Coon,'
'Maud, Maud, Maud,' 'Daisy,' 'Moon, Moon,
Moon,' and many others."

" Harmony Simplified" presents to the student the rudi-
mentary principles of harmony in a concise and entertaining
manner, and 1 am sure that any one examining the work
will agree with me when I say that it is of practical value
as a text-book, reflecting much credit upon the author's
musicianship.
WILSON G. SMITH.
We are using " Harmony Simplified" in our harmony
classes in the State Normal College. The book is simple,
yet direct, explicit and complete so far as intended, and,
together with the choice selections used as illustrations, is
altogether commendable. I sincerely recommend it.
FREDEKIC H. PEASE.
" Harmony Simplified " was duly received. I congratulate
you on its general lucidity of statement, remarkable con-
ciseness, its choice illustrations from the best sources, and
its handsome typographical dress. It is an excellent manual.
