DYER GOT LONG-LOST SEAL, j g
During his recent trip to Europe, W> J.
Dyer, of W. J. Dyer & Bro., recovered the
long-lost seal of the State of Minnesota,
which has been missing since the capital was
destroyed by fire some twenty years ago.
It was given to Mr. Dyer by Mr. Bergma,
a Hollander who resided in St. Paul many
years ago. It seems he found the seal short-
ly after the fire, and, not knowing its im-
portance, laid it away in one of his desks
and forgot all about it. He recently came
across the relic and asked Mr. Dyer to trans-
port the seal back to the State authorities.
This trust Mr. Dyer gladly undertook, and
no doubt the seal and its history will find a
permanent resting place in the archives of
the historical society.
At a meeting of the sub-committee of the
cre'ditors of Gardner & Osgood, Boston, a
report was submitted recommending that
bankruptcy proceedings be instituted. This
course would, in the opinion of the commit-
tee, be best for the interests of both creditors
and firm.
