In connection with a very handsome cut
of Eilers' new wholesale warehouse in Port-
land, Ore., the Sunday Oregonian prints the
following:
Portland is the greatest distributing cen-
ter for pianos and organs outside of the
three manufacturing centers of New York,
Boston and Chicago. In Boston is made the
world-renowned Chickering piano, "the old-
est in America and best in the world." New
York is the home of the wonderful Weber
piano, which is indisputably the very choic-
est and most nearly perfect instrument man-
ufactured in that great city, while the Kim-
ball is by many odds the very finest and lat-
est improved piano made in the great city
of Chicago.
These three great American pianos, to-
gether with a dozen other fine makes, are sold
in the great Northwest by Eilers Piano
House.
The new wholesale distributing depot of
Eilers Piano House is situated at the corner
of Thirteenth and Marshall streets. Pianos
and organs are delivered at the warehouse
on the company's own railroad tracks, and
the warehouse is equipped with every mod-
ern facility for speedily and economically
handling and shipping large numbers of fine
pianos. The entire wholesale business of
Eilers Piano House will hereafter be han-
dled from this place, thereby effecting large
savings in cartages. It has also been hinted
that in this building manufacturing opera-
tions may be commenced shortly. There is
no reason why a good piano or organ cannot
be made in Portland.
The retail business will, of course, be con-'
ducted in the company's present retail quar-
ters in the new Music Building on Washing-
ton street, which building was specially erect-
ed for them about a year ago.

Among the elaborately draped buildings
along Fulton street, Brooklyn, in honor of
our late President, those of the Sterling
Co. and Frank A. Sanford attract much no-
tice. Almost every business building in that
thoroughfare is in mourning, and the artis-
tic taste displayed is not only pleasing to the
eye, but shows the patriotic feeling that is
embodied in the hearts of the American cit-
izen.
