the best equipped and best managed estab-
lishments in the piano-making world.
One pleasing feature observable at the
new Steck warerooms on Fifth avenue is the
presence, at their several posts, earl> and late,
with a word of welcome for all comers, of
the men who have been for so long a time
honorably and conspicuously connected with
the advancement of the Steck interests and
the progress of the piano industry as a
whole, irrespective of locality.

It is only necessary to make one visit to
the Mathushek & Son warerooms, at the
corner of Broadway and Forty-seventh street,
to understand why the Mathushek & Son
piano finds its way into so many studios
and luxurious homes in New York and other
States, East, West and South. Apart from
its undisputed quality of tone, there is a dis-
tinct choiceness discernible in case designs.
Not always is it possible to suit the critical
views of the artist in this matter, yet the
records show how highly appreciated the
Mathushek & Sons products are by those
who know what a piano ought to be.

Frank B. Burns continues to be one of
the busiest men in town—yes, or out of
town—for one is never quite certain whether
Frank is in Manhattan, Mexico or Middle-
town, N. Y. But wherever he is, it is safe
to wager that he is doing business, if there
is any business to be done. The man who
wants something in Frank's line—velours,
for instance—comes face to face with him
and fails to place an order, is so rare a spec-
imen that when caught he ought to be placed
on exhibition as a curiosity.

No better illustration of piano and organ
wareroom space advantageously used can be
found in this city than is now in evidence at
the Mason & Hamlin warerooms. When Mr.
Daniels took charge of the retail department,
several years ago, it was noted at once by
those whose business it is to observe, that
particular attention was being paid to the
proper setting of the Mason & Hamlin in-
struments. Henry L. Mason did much good
work in this direction during his administra-
tion. Mr. Daniels, like his partners in the
firm, realizes the value of a fitting exposi-
tion and takes infinite pains to maintain one.

Adam Nickel and the younger members of
the Wessell, Nickel & Gross house, are leav-
ing no stone unturned in their resolve to
maintain the high standing of their prod-
ucts. Improvements are constantly in prog-
ress at the factory. Several valuable new
machines have been put in place recently and
others are now in process of construction.
The motto of the firm, "Always the Best,"
is never lost sight of, even when the stress
of business necessitates high-pressure work.
Every action sent out is individually in-
spected by responsible experts, who take a
pride in their work.
