music that the zither, the guitar and the man-
dolin rank highest among the sweet-toned
string instruments. The 'Columbia' and the
'Regent' zithers are triumphs of American
genius combining these three instruments
in one superb combination. Moreover, this
is accomplished in such a manner as to total-
ly obviate the necessity of long and tedious
finger practice imperative with any or all
of the above instruments.
"They not only embody the beautiful trem-
olo of the zither, the deep sonorous vibrations
of the guitar, and the delightful chime of
the mandolin, but, become irresistible when
once the clever system is seen, since it enables
a child to render the most difficult melodies
in our repertoire with the ease and finish
of a skilled performer. In quality of tone
they are akin to the grand harp, especially
in the resonance and vibratory powers of
its bass strings. Like the 'Columbia,' the
accompaniment of the 'Regent' is admirably
adapted to the voice."
