haps it is rather invidious to say citizens,
for certainly the citizenesses were equally
eager in their recognition of America's
great day. One of the most interesting
events was a grand concert given in the
evening inside the Exposition by Monsieur
Colonne in the Salle des Concerts du Vieux
Paris. The orchestra de Colonne ranks as
one of the world's greatest musical organ-
izations, and M. Breitner, the pianist, holds
an eminent position as an artist of superior
ability.
This concert commenced with "The
Star Spangled Banner," at the opening
bars of which every one in the hall rose to
their feet as good Americans should do.
Another morceau on the programme was
"Hail Columbia." These'pieces were
magnificently prayed." A most gratifying
feature of this concert was the fact that a
Baldwin Concert Grand was the instru-
ment used for the performance of all the
piano music', and it is needless to add that
it was heard to great advantage, and also

est to all concerned with the music trade.
With this object in view I send you two
more photographs showing the Baldwin
exhibit in the American music section,
which will perhaps give them a better
idea of this fine stand than the first photo-
graph or the most graphic pen could con-
vey to them.
The first photograph of the Baldwin ex-
hibit I sent you on June 8, at which time
I entered into details concerning it.
This exhibit with its superb equipment
is doing splendid educational work for
American manufactures in removing that
prejudice which still clings to Continental
Europe regarding American products.
The model of the Baldwin factory, which
was described in one of my former letters,
conies in for a large amount of attention
and its ingenious arrangement is remarked
by all.
