same time the instrument shall have a
wide range of tone and shall be capable,
therefore, of playing tunes which have a
wide range.
Some features of the invention are par-
ticularly concerned with the mounting and
sounding of the bells; but other features,
as will be understood, are capable of appli-
cation to other forms of music boxes, such
as those which employ combs.
The Victoria piano, of which that cele-
brated piano maker, Henry Lindeman is
manufacturer, is among the latest aspirants
for trade favor. Well equipped manufactur-
ing quarters for the production of these
attractive pianos have been opened up at
157 and 159 East 128th street, this city.
In view of the reputation and standing
of Henry Lindeman, it is needless to ex-
patiate on the policy which will govern
this house, particularly as far as the merits
of their products are concerned.
"Victoria" and "value" will be synonym-
ous just as they are alliterative.
This fact should interest every dealer
who is desirous of handling pianos that
will make every customer a friend.
We anticipate a very generous response
to the following letter which has been sent
out this week anent the Victoria:
"We appreciate that every live dealer is
in the market for anything new out of
which he can make money.
"We have that proposition in the 'Victo-
ria' piano.
"We are not unknown to the trade, and
know how to make a piano and also to

May Reduce War Taxes.
The Ways and Means Committee of the
House of Representatives is considering
the question of reducing the internal rev-
enue taxes, owing to the excess of revenues
over expenditures. This is certainly in-
teresting to business men everywhere. An
effort may be made to repeal the stamp tax
on express receipts and telegraph messages,
which has proved irritating to the public,
not on account of the value of the taxes,
but from the annoyance occasioned by the
collection of these trifling sums.
