THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW.
AUTOHATON * PIANO * NOTES
While the general piano trade is complaining, the Automaton Piano
Co. state they are well satisfied with the business they are doing,
in fact their store sales at retail, for the week ending June 6th,
hold the record of the best week's sales yet made.
Their wholesale business is also
satisfactory; orders received
within the last week include attachments for Stein way & Sons, Ma-
son & Hamlin, Kroeger Piano Co., Sebastian Somer, Behning Piano
Co.,
& William Mylius, also A. Kanouse, Dover N. J., Geo. A.
Vossler & Sons, Poughkeepsie, N. Y., Jas. W. Bergstrom of Hono-
lulu, H. I., Boynton Music Co. of Meadville, Pa., Geo. R. Col bath,
Alpena, Mich., G. O. Heine & Co., San Francisco, Cal., and L. A.
Van Romondt for the West Indies.

What has become of the numberless Self-Playing Attachments
that have been spoken about and boomed during the past twelve
months?
There is only one that at present appears to be worthy of
any consideration and to [this one attachment, the Automaton Pi-
ano Co. trace a number of sales of their own device.
Many such
have been made to people, who before paying $250.00 for such an
attachment, and being compelled to send their piano to a factory to
have it fitted, and then having to use foot pedals to operate same,
have preferred to pay $100.00, have the attachment fitted at their
own house (if they desire), and by means of electricity be spared
the necessity of "hard labor" when music is desired or required.
A cleverly gotten up advertisement, appeared in the colored sup-
plement of the " Sunday World."
The advertisement, which ap-
peared in colors, is reproduced here in black.
Very satisfactory re-
sults have been obtained from this ad.

One of the most attractive novelties to be seen in New York City
is the Revolving Ball Sign suspended in the front of the store of the
Automaton Piano Co. at 905 Broadway.
The manner in which these
balls are caused to revolve and apparently float in the air without
any mechanical control, is truly wonderful.
The Automaton Piano Co. has a large number of inquiries from
various parts of the country for Automaton attachments, and is
ready to turn over such inquiries to any live dealer who will energet-

territory.
To be successful, however, it must be done thoroughly
and well, and live dealers should investigate this matter without de-
lay.
" History repeats itself" and the same conditions as exist
with the Automaton Piano Co. existed at one time with the ^olian
Co.
Now there is hardly a dealer who would not give a good deal
to get the ^Eolian agency, and those who have it and have pushed it
energetically are reaping the benefits.
