First Use of the New Law.
TUDGE Me AD AM, in the Superior Court
{J Thursday, gave the first decision on
the new law regarding attachments against
a non-resident's property.
The new law reads that attachments may
be issued when the injury is inflicted on
"person or property," instead of "personal
property," as of old. The damages de-
manded in the suit before Judge McAdam
were $25,000. The Judge said the law-
makers had evidently meant the Court to
use his own discretion in such cases, so re-
duced the attachment to $5,000.
