THE A. M. McPhail Piano Company, Boston,
Mass., issued a very pretty Thanksgiving Day
souvenir. It is composed of yellow cardboard,
appropriately illustrated and containing a real
" wish bone," to the right of which is printed
" We Have No Bone To Pick With You," and
to the left is an appropriate verse accompanied
by a request to the recipient of the souvenir to
wish for the continued prosperity of the McPhail
pianos. On one of the sections is printed the
address of the company, and on another
"Thanksgiving Day, 1892." The design is
quite original and is tastefully executed.

making a mortise with half round ends.
When only one spindle is to be used, it can be
disconnected from the gearing by loosening a
single nut. This should always be done for
mortising, as the spindle then runs at a much
higher speed than for boring.
The spindles and their pinions are of steel,
and their bearings are adjustible
for wear.
Two sizes of this machine are
made as follows:
Sixteen inch machine bores
holes from one to sixteen inches
between centers, and weighs
about 600 pounds.
Five inch machine bores holes
from one to five inches between
centers, and weighs about 500
pounds.
Either of these machines can
be furnished with a hand lever
and a treadle.

BAUS & Co. are forging ahead
The table can be set ten inches below the
centers of spindles. It slides forward and back
against the adjustable stop, and, when ordered
for mortising, sideways also. Mortising is done
at a good rate, and their piano is
meeting with great favor through
the country. Mr. Baus is on a
western trip and is doing much
better than was anticipated. He
will reach New York about Christ-
mas.
