PRAISE FOR THE STARR PIANO-
HERE are probably but few cities in the United
States that can class among their industries
that of a piano manufactory; and certainly none
that have so universal & reputation for quality and
style as the Starr pianos. The location of a manu-
factory of this nature in Richmond was on account of
the abundance of the different woods used, and so es-
sential in the construction of pianos. So well known
is this popular Starr piano that any effort to praise, Palace Steamers-

DECKER & SON PIANOS.
HERE is probably no piano manufacturing firm
in the country that is enjoying a better trade
than that of Decker & Son of this city. Their
factory is running ten hours every day with a full
complement of hands, and yet they cannot even get
wareroom stock ahead. When there is such a steady
demand for a piano as in this case it must contain
many excellent qualities.
The following unsolicited letter from the organist
of Grace M. E. chureh is of great importance, as he
is a competent judge of a musical instrument:

CHICAGO'S ORGAN INDUSTRY.
HICAGO may well feel proud of her organ indus-
tries. They are as follows : The W. W. Kim-
ball Co., turning out between 30 and 40 organs
per day. The Story & Clark, which turns out 700 to
800 per month. " We are not doing much bragging
in the papers," remarked Mr. Story to a Western ex-
change, " the business speaks for itself. Every box
is marked for its destination before the organ goes
in, as you can-see for yourself."
Next we have the Newman Bros., who turn out be-
tween 150 and 200 organs per week and cannot fill all
their orders. This concern is enjoying a regular boom
of late. And the Chicago Cottage organ, with a capa-
city of about 125 organs per week. John G. Earhuff
& Co. and Tryber & Sweetland, who jointly turn out
probably 50 organs per weec Here is a total of
nearly 700 or more organs per week, to turn out
which requires hundreds of thousands of dollars and
many skilled workmen,
