DANIEL E. FRASIER, the largo piano hammer
coverer, of Cambridgeport, Mass., was elected Alder
man on December 7 for the ensuing year. Mr. Fra-
sier received the largest majority of any one on his
ticket, his vote being much larger than the Mayors. ;
J. H. CHRISTIE, Stamford, Conn., will open hand-
some new wareroome about February 1. These new-
rooms will be 60 feet deep, '25 feet wide, and have an
addition of 25 feet square for repairing and work-
shop. The warerooms will be heated by steam, and
the front will be of large glass windows, which will
make as comfortable and handsome piano wareroon>3
as any in the country. Mr. Christie sells the Buus
piano, and finds it an easy instrument to sell, and
one that always givos entire satisfaction.
C. M. LOOMIS, New Haven, Conn , has changed
his business into a stock company, with a capital of
$35,000. Mr. Loomis has $17,000, Mr. John B. Treat
$17,000, and Mr. Shepard $1,000 of the stock.
AUGUSTUS BATTS & Co., New York, are having a
great trade. During the month of December, they
shipped eighty-one new pianos, besides several sec
ond-hand ones. This shows that the excellence of
the Baus piano is receiving just recognition.

THE members of the firm of Story & Clark, Chicago,
111., gave a reception to their employees, at their fac-
tory, Canal and Sixteenth streets, on December 23d.
From all accounts every one spent a very enjoyable
evening.
CARL PRUFER, Boston, Mass., is dead.
WE have just received the dealers' edition catalogue
of the New England Company. It contains cuts of
some of the many medals received at the different
exhibitions, and a complete list of their various styles
which have become so popular with dealers and the
public generally. The book is handsomely bound
and shows great care in printing. The paper used is
excellent, and taken altogether the book is one of
the handsomest ever published by an organ house.
THE factory of W. H. Jewett & Co, Leominster,
Mass., came very nearly being destroyed by fire a
few days ago. The fire was caused by the explosion
of a kerosene lamp, but by prompt work it was ex
tinguished before much damage was done, and
orders but little delayed.
AT this season of the year, when nearly all the
piano and organ houses are getting up something
unique in catalogues or calendars, it is impossible
to say which of them displays the best taste. Among
the most noteworthy for elegance, however, is Ihe
catalogue of Hallett & Davis, Boston, recently re-
ceived at this office. This firm never doe^ things by
halves, and this last evidence of its enterprise is in
harmony with all its acts.

following item : "Judgments to the amount of $8,040
against Edward McCammon and Solomon F. Higgins
were entered up to day in favor of the Albany County
