What's what with the music operator's dollar? The
above sketch shows what leading music operators
claim happens to each dollar they take in.
Location's share ••••••••••••••••••••••• .50%
All overhead expenses •••••••••••••••••• 30%
Taxes, License Fees, etc ••••••••••••••• 7%
New equipment and accessories •••••••••• 8~
Operator's share ••••••••••••••••••••••• 5%
There may be some slight changes in some categories,
but, they claim, the big over-all wedges from each
dollar taken in remain static.
The location's share, they point out, remains at ·
50~. Overhead expenses of all kinds, from truck
tires to gasoline to repairs and labor costs, to-
day takes a 30~ wedge from each dollar. License
fees and taxes of all kinds take at least 7% they
say. New equipment and accessories use up 8%. The
remaining 5% of each dollar earned is the music
operator's share.
How do these figures compare to your own?

Future scanning projects are planned by the International Arcade Museum Library (IAML).
