infla-
tion continues to gallop, climbing up over 9% this past May. Plus this wavering ~ondi
tion of the economy continuing, operators realize that the increase in cost of gas and
oil in addition to a higher rate of inflation, means a definite need for more income has
become most necessary.
The difference required by operators cannot be depended on to come from increased play
action regardless of "1-Pla~ 2-Bits" and the use of double 2-Bits chutes. The operator
must . arrange for a more logical, more solid way to obtain the increased income he now
requires. The surest way for the operator to obtain this greater income is to change from
50/50 to the share-a~d-share-alike - 1/3 - 1/3 - 1/ 3 - commission basis. This di£ference
from 50/ 50 means an increase of 16 2/ 3% more money for the operator from each collectio
And that additional $16.66 for every $100 collected means continuing profitability to n.
overcome today's wavering economy.

Bally's tie-in with Columbia Pictures' "Tommy", featuring Bally's "Wizard", 4-Player
flipper, has been a most distinguished way for operators to cash in on this click movie.
The game itself, "Vizard", was inspired by the movie. The movie, in turn, wherever it's
shown, helps boom play for "Yizard". This is the kind of tie-in that comes about when
two fully alert firms realize the advantages of cooperation. More such tie-ins between
the visual entertainments, movies, TV, spectator sports and the amusements of this indus-
try would definitely prove of tremendous worth, not only from the standpoint of greater
income but, much more, from the better public relations this engenders for the industry.
(Years ago mfrs made it their business to tie in their products with the stars of
stage, screen, the music world and the sports world. Jack Dempsey, "Red" Grange, so many,
many others were featured with music and games. Nov that Bally has reopened the path,
let's hope others will follow thru to bring ever greater glory to this industry.)
