Dear Sirs:
In reply to the operator who asked " What would you do when
confronted by the location that wished to buy their own equipment?-, I
have this to say:
I. If the location is determined to buy machines, they cannot be
stopped. Try to talk sense to them and show all the disadvantages
of a location owning their own equipment.
2. Don't worry
because within
fall, and in a
than the 40 to
about the word getting around to your other locations
about six months this location will begin it's down-
year the IOO % collections they receive will be less
50 % you are presently giving them.
3. Never give a location all the money. If this one is lost, you
will soon find another one. (Don't worry about it.)
4. In the future, try to get some type of insurance such as a lease,
contract, or some other written, legal agreement when you set up the
location ( major locations especially ). One type of insurance that
is particularly favorable is to have at least one piece of equipment
such as a juke box, pinball, or other type of arcade machine in ever-
y major location. The location can't service this type of equipment
in most cases; when you have all mechanical equipment such as you de-
scribed, it is very tempting to the location to buy their own machines.
s.
Try to get all operators in your area to agree not to supply or
any service to a location that bas their own machines. You can
compete like"wildfire" and still cooperate when it concerns the com-
mon good of all operators in your area.
