Not too, too many moons ago, we published a "Coinography" of Fletcher A. Blalock which most completely
outlined his career in this industry and revealed that his two sons had entered into his business to
help carry on the leadership of this firm of many years standing in the industry. Imagine our surprise,
then, to be greeted by a 1973 calendar one morning as we opened our office mail and to find the above
picture of 37 years ago as the head attraction of this calendar.
We recall the picture. We also recall the fact that Fletch Blalock was rightfully proud of it. After
all, in 1936, this was truly a major distributing accomplishment for Fletch and his entire organization
which, not too long after '36, expanded into Atlanta, New Orleans and other big urban centers. The very
happy group gathered about the '36 Wurlitzer in this picture is certainly indicative of progressive
confidence in every regard.
We sincerely hope others thruout the industry will use such pictures to prove the stability and the
progressiveness of this industry in their own areas. It is such pictures that gain the greater confi-
dence of locations as well as the general public. These old pictures are truly the essence for finer
public relations. We want to commend Fletcher A. Blalock, his sons, the charming Mrs. Blalock and his
entire organization for the use of this most worthwhile and nostalgic picture of how it used to be.
