NEWS X VIEWS
"Reflecting a
proud industry"
The past few years have certainly
been interesting in the coin-op
amusement business—problems,
yes—but satisfactions as well. The
1983 Exposition theme reflects those
satisfactions and this industry's pride
in its products and services as well
as the "progress we represent tech
nically, creatively, and socially in
this country and the world. We are a
new dimension in entertainment
and learning." We have just reason
to be proud.

The theme of the Pacific Amuse
ment Operators Show is "Return
On Investment" and this theme is
reflected in the exhibits and seminars
at the show. With the sluggishness
of the complete video game market,
many operators are seeking alter
natives to this often high investment/
high risk amusement product. One
response to this need, to be ad
dressed at the show, is conversion
kits, which are becoming more
sophisticated and accepted as a
successful means of a greater return
on the original investment.
In addition to complex video games
and conversion kits, the exhibition
will reflect the increased demand
for non-video amusement products
(kiddie rides, electro-mechanical
games, ball roll-up, etc.) with their
potential of long life earning capa
bility. Operation of these and non-
traditional amusement products will
be covered in several seminars along
with location analysis, technical
troubleshooting, legislation, tokens,
