10 —THE COIN SLOT
© The International Arcade Museum
No. IS for the Mills MYSTERY. It covers most of the Mills
escalator Bell machines made between 1935 and 1941,
including the CHERRY "Bursting Cherry", BROWNFRONT,
MYSTERY, BLUE FRONT "Castle Front" and others. It
doesn't cover the CHROME. That'll come later as Coin Slot
Guide No. 136.
But your machine isn't a Mills CHROME, even though it
looks like it Thatfrontplate is unmistakeably a Buckleyfront,
so what you've actually got is the Buckley AUTOMATIC
JACKPOTBELLE of1947, revampedfrom a MillsMYSTERY,
BLUE FRONT or BROWN FRONT. That's also why you
can'tfind the serial number, because the original is longgone to
be replaced by a Buckley number. You might be interested in
Coin Slot Guide No. 25 for the Buckley CRISS CROSS and
JACKPOT BELLE lines as it describes and illustrates all of
the Buckley revamps and has the parts lists for all of the
Buckley components and new parts, including that "Club
Handle".
Sure your machine is classified as one of the "most
collectible", (fit's a Mills MYSTERY, CHERRY orBROWN
FRONTyou'llfind it illustrated and described in Volume 1 of
"An Illustrated Price Guide to the 100 Most Collectible Slot
Machines", with a newly revised edition now available that has
a bunch of new photos plus an index If your machine is a
BLUE FRONT, you'll find it in Volume 2. You'll find its
Buckley JACKPOT BELLE version described in either
Volumes 4 or 5, both of which are already in work.
Sincerely,
Editor
Dear Editor
I know by reading your magazine that many of your patrons
take the liberty to send you photos and inquire on their personal
slots. I, too, would like to be so presumptuous and rely on your
goodness. I hope I am not overstepping my bounds by doing so.
The enclosed photos depict my slot machine. As you will notice,
