Dear Editor:
Dear Donald:
I am enclosing a photo of my slot machine in hopes that you
can identify it for me. I would also appreciate a list of guides or
half.
booklets that could help me understand the workings and also
help me locate the parts for the machine. Your help is
appreciated.
Sincerely,
Donald Caillonetti
You 've got halfofa great machine, but you 've got the wrong
Your machine is the Mills BONUS "Horse Head" of193 7-
1943, and it is one ofthe most desirable Mills escalator Bells
ever made. But the trickypart is the mechanism. The cabinet is
a beginning, of course, but the innards are probably worth
considerably more than the outside cabinet
The BONUS is described on page 89 of"An IllustratedPrice
Guide to the 100 Most Collectible Slot Machines, Volume 1".
A new edition ofthis bookjust came out with many newpictures
and updated prices. You can get itfrom Coin Slot Books for
$16.70 postpaid.
Coin Slot Guide No. 100for the Mills BONUS is the one you
need as it"ll have all the mechanism data and instructionsfor
the add-on "Bonus" mechanism. But it hasn't been written yet,
although all the material has been assembled It's a fur piece
down the line, and will probably be out late next year. In the
meantime, Coin Slot Guide No. 15 for the Mills MYSTERY
will suffice for the basic Bell mechanism as it is one and the
samefor both the MYSTER Y and the BONUS. It's available
from Coin Slot Books for $7.45 postpaid
As for the machine, keep looking. You just might get lucky
and find what you need Where'd the cabinet comefrom? Go
back, and see if a mechanism is buried around there!
Sincerely,

I am in the process of restoring a Groetchen COLUMBIA slot
but need a couple of parts to complete the restoration.
I need to locate a Coin Escalator Body, and a 25 C Coin Gauge
listed in your Coin Slot Guide Number 19 for the Groetchen
COLUMBIA Machine. The part numbers are A-112 for the
Escalator and A-280 for the Coin Gauge. If you know of anyone
having these parts, I would appreciate hearing from them.
Best regards,
O. M. Rueckel
