SLOTS
Finding
Buying
Selling
by
WILLIAM E. HARRIS
I've yet to see an article on how to find coin machines. An advertise
ment in the Denver Post some weeks ago stated "How to get rich
buying and selling slot machines" or something to that effect. My
friend, Orin Yeager, sent for the pamphlet. Later his money was
returned with a note stating that there was not enough response to
warrant sending out the advertised copy. Apparantly someone (Blind
Ad) was hoping for a large enough response before printing and send
ing out their great secret.
The cost I might add was $3.00 a copy.
It did inspire me to write this article. I pride myself as being a suc
cessful seeker, or whatever word you choose to call it, of slot
machines and other coin operated amusement devices. Everyone
approaches a situation differently. My way may not work for you,
or you may be able to borrow from this or even choose to copy it.
Just remember there are a lot of treasures out there yet to be found.
With prices rising like they are, more machines will surface than
ever before. If the truth were known, we may have just scratched
the surface. Expect a lot of action the next few years.
Anyone gaining an expertise in a given specialty of coin machine
collecting and who are submitting articles to publications oecome
well known. Their expert advise is sought, giving them contacts not
otherwise possible.
If you have been in other collecting fields, such as gun collecting,
antique auto's, music society, etc., maintain your contacts. These
folks will pass along leads from sources you may not be able to cover.
I personally get calls from contacts from these sources.
Keep in
touch with old contacts!
